The summer is here and a few of us may be looking at our wardrobe and making plans to fit into all of these awesome outfits. Here are 3 dietary practices I’ve used to keep the pounds down this year:

Real Food Nutrition with Whole Food Ingredients

I am big into portion control for real food nutrition. Fruits for sugar, vegetables for carbohydrates, and a variety of foods can be used for protein including peas and beans for vegetarians. I make sure that every plate has 40%protein, 30% carbohydrates and 30% leafy green vegetables.

Even when I research supplements I make an effort to identify whole food ingredients.

Drink Water once every 90 minutes

Most of us know that up to seventy per cent of the total body weight is due to water. The body loses about four liters of water every day. It is, therefore, necessary to replenish this volume by drinking at least the equivalent amount of water every day. Inadequate intake of water can lead to dehydration. If the average adult is awake for 16 hours a day, drinking water every 90 minutes- pre and post meals, will surely keep one hydrated and potentially minimize the portions of food we ingest. I’ve noticed that drinking water about 15 minutes before breakfast, lunch, snacking, or dinner, decreases the amount of food I feel that I need to eat.

Make sure you Eat Breakfast

According to the National Weight Control Registry, a research study that includes participants who have lost at least 30 pounds and kept the weight off for at a year or more, breakfast is a major key to weight control. The overwhelming majority of their participants — 90 percent — reported eating breakfast at least five days a week, and an outstanding number, 78 percent, eat breakfast every day.

Great advice, Yoli.
I start my day with fresh lemon water, eat a healthy breakfast, lots of fruit and vegetables, but I must admit that I still do not drink enough water. I am going to try your advice and drink water every 90 minutes. Thanks.
