#CouchCritics Movie Night with @Blockbusterexp

What great timing to spend the night in and have lots of good snacks and a good movie.

In preparation for our movie night, I went shopping at Walmart to pick up a few accoutrements .

I think I can whip up something with the above ingredients.

I was able to find a local Blockbuster Express kiosk close to my sister but it was out of stock of the movie New Years Eve. But the beautiful think about Blockbuster Express is if a movie is out of stock (and it is guaranteed in stock), they will send you a code for a free movie! I was able to find another kiosk with the movie in stock. Win Win! Also, check their Facebook page and their twitter feed for occasional coupons and discounts. Notice that if you like their Facebook page, you automatically get a $1 coupon for your next movie rental. You can’t get any greener than renting movie that you eventually return. No mess, no waste.

My sisters and their friend Sky settled in with plates of our nights snack. I made guacamole, Alexia sweet potato tater tots, and diced and sauteed plantains. I’ve watched the movie Valentine’s Day before and enjoyed it, so with great expectations, we commenced to watch New Year’s Eve.

Who are the key actors and their characters? PG-13
This movie is packed with lots of recognizable actresses and actors. There are multiple store lines so it helps to be attentive. So not to give it all away: We have Michelle Pfeiffer playing a secretary named Ingrid; Zac Efron as a bike messenger named Paul; Robert De Niro as a hospital patient named Stan; Halle Berry as Nurse Aimee; Jessica Biel and Seth Meyers play Tess and Griffin, the married and pregnant couple; Katherine Heigl plays Chef Laura and her ex-fiance/rocker is a Jon Bon Jovi as Jensen. Sofía Vergara (from Modern Family) plays Ava, Chef Laura’s sous chef. Sarah Jessica Parker (Sex and the City) is Kim, a single mom to a teenage daughter and costume designer. And last but not least, Ashton Kutcher is the disenchanted Randy who meets Lea Michele (from Glee) who plays Elise, a backup singer for Jensen.

The main theme is showing how people can redeem themselves, find opportunities and live out loud. There were lots of story lines to follow but they flowed pretty well. Lots of funny moments and heartfelt moments. One a scale of 1-5, we gave this movie 3.5 out of 5 couches. It is worth renting for a girls night in.

Overall, this was a great time to spend quality time with my sisters and their friend, and feed them quality food. I think this would be a great new tradition.
