Ok now that we have that out of the way, let’s get to the goods of my impropmtu, informal review of the V-Note. I found a V-Note groupon that was about to expire and decided to take myself out to lunch. There were so many appealing options to choose from that I found myself mentally full before I got my appetizer.

::Appetizer::

I went with the Seitan Schnitzel which is a breaded seitan medallion with potato salad, crisp cheddar, and a blueberry reduction. The Schnitzal for me was under-seasoned on its own. The potato salad was creamy, savory, and great texture with firm potatoes. The cheddar crisp added a nice touch ala haute classic cheddar cracker. Pairing the salad with the schnitzal made up for the lack of seasoning. The blueberry reduction, while a nice aesthetic touch, was neutral in the dish for me.

::Entree::

The glutton in me choose the Soy Bacon Cheeseburger which was a stacked soy patty, caramelized onions, vegan cheese, soy bacon, mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, chipotle aioli, all on a sesame roll and a side of field greens. I skipped the fries since I figured over-indulgence has commenced with the burger alone. This burger is your a late night, post club dinners dream. I felt fat eating it which means it was great, greasy and tasty. I was only able the eat half to save room for dessert. The cheese on the bottom almost resembled an egg. How’d they do that?

::Dessert::

No meal is complete in my mind with dessert. The no brainer choice was the Chocolate Ganache Cake with peanut butter center. Now be forewarned, this is not your typical flour cake. It is indeed a mound of layers of chocolate ganache, a firm mousse texture, and a peanut butter ganache center. The crust under the cake and ice cream was a special cookie crumb crust. I loved it like my inner fat kid loves cake. It was a moist, delicately saturating, not overly sweet, chocolate love bug.

My overall experience of the V-Note was highly favorable. The food was clean, timely; the staff was friendly, attentive,and informative. The decor was simple, modern, and chic. I look froward to returning for brunch and intend to dine by myself again so I can hoard my food.
